God of the Earth
Buried in Water and Earth

The shrine rumbled gently. The earth itself seemed to reach up, like some gently twisting hand of soil, to close itself around the compass. The trinket disappeared inside of the hand, which now appeared to be rolling over - as if it were really two hands in one, sewn together by mother nature. The tendrils of dirt opened, and there sat an amulet, not unlike the now gone compass, at least in terms of size and colour. However this amulet was inlaid with vines and leaves - things which clearly indicated that it was one the God's own.

"Nothing could make me happier, youngling."

The God's voice first pushed through the soil, followed by the rest of his mammoth and rustic body. His eyes kindly fell downwards onto the small colt - though he had grown considerably since last the God saw him. "Did you enjoy helping others?" The God asked, his voice a paternal cradle of love and affection. Gently his eyes moved to Lakota, nodding with a polite warmth to the Poisoner. She seemed to have aged past her years on this earth, a certain weariness falling over her, settling on her shoulders and in the crevices of her muscles. Was it being a Mother that had done this to her? Or simply the ebbs and flows of life itself?

From behind his wing, the God produced an egg. It was dark in colour, speckled with some lighter flecks, but the most impressive thing about it, was its size. Clearly this egg had not been laid by a bird. The God extended his wing, still cradling the egg in a swaddle of feathers, towards
Murtagh. He left his dark appendage outreached until the boy had taken his prize, before folding it gently against his flank once more.
