She reacted before she could even think. Those thick pistons full of power throwing her forward like a runaway freight train and straight towards the wolf on the prowl. She had been wandering again, searching for her child that has since decided that scaring her mother to death by disappearing was a fun game to play. She searched high and low, looking in her favorite places where she would often frolic and find new pretty trinkets to hoard away in their little nest at home. The child was quite a piece of work, but yet so was December, so she wouldn't have it any other way. What she hadn't expected to come across was another foal, one that was being chased down by a hungry wolf. Sure, it was mangy and nearly at death's door, obviously cast away from its original herd, but a predator was a predator, and this one was about to come upon quite the tasty meal.

The ivory lass would not let that happen today. Her large bulk moved with such a force that the ground shook beneath her, a blazing fire in her eyes as she honed in on her target with utter malice. Hooves struck out immediately, throwing the wolf to the side and causing a yelp to escape it's pointed jaws. She responded with her own snarl, ears flat upon her thick skull as she reared up, ready to slam her massive hooves down upon the beast's flank. Though it managed to dodge just in time, its confidence was falter, having not expected anything to come to this little foal's rescue. December was fierce in her movements, not settling for simply letting this mongrel escape after trying to devour a child. She had a goal and she was going to reach it, refusing to let anything stand in her way.

"Leave her be," her voice boomed in its deeper tones, reverberating loudly around them as she went to strike again, her aim true as she managed to knock the beast to the snowy floor. Before she could react much further another arrived, joining her in the attack of the beast. He flashed his horn, angry eyes sharing the passion she felt for saving this babe. His words were warnings, but she would not give the wolf any. As he stood guard before the child she went in for the kill, lunging forward with all of her strength and bringing down all her weight upon it's head. A loud crunch resounded around them all, the feel of bone breaking way beneath dark hooves as she landed the final blow. When she could no longer feel the beating heart of the beast in her feet she removed herself from atop it, labored breathing the only sign that she had been in a fight.

There was nothing that would stand in the way of a mother and a child, even if the child was not her own. Hair falling over her hard steel gaze she caught her breath, on high alert for any other wolves that might happen to be around. Only when the coast was clear did she finally turn her attention to the baby and the winged gentleman, gaze soon removing it's hardened expression and smoothing out to a tender smile. Moving closer she dipped her head politely to the younger man, acknowledging his help with that respectful nod before looking to the child once again. She didn't appear hurt or injured, they had seemed to have made it to her just in time. She towered over the child, surely not as big as most, but her sheer bulk made up for it. With a gentler gaze now she slowly let her muzzle search for the darker child's, eyes looking into hers kindly as she spoke in softer tones,"Are you hurt child?"
