Sometimes, usually by his friends or fellow demigods, Mesec got teased for being naive and unobservant but he knew enough to know that certain actions between a mare and a stallion could lead to pregnancy and then foals. It had not happened with Ampere - but in hindsight he was aware that she might have already been pregnant with Gaucho’s twins when they had met up in the Throat.

His mind was quick to move on from them, that family he had no place in. It was still to painful to think of them, of her, and he did not want to lose the tentative grip he had on this form.

Instead he thought of another, more recent instance, and how he did not know if anything had happened as a result of the last time he was here in the Steppe. The potential consequences had not come crashing down on him until later, after he had parted ways with Ki’irha. That night, hiding from the snowstorm under the same shelter of rock, had been all about a bandaid on a festering wound - a temporary relief of the sadness and weight of his self-inflicted isolation.

Now, in the aftermath, it had caused a whole lot more worry than it had helped to fix because there was so much that he did not know. Had he burdened the starlight mare with something she did not want? Where could he find her to see? He had come here, to the rocky caves and sculptures of the Steppe in the vague hope of seeing her again but there was no guarantee of that. The sheer size of Helovia really didn’t hit home until you were looking for one unicorn in all of those lands.

In a contrast to his last visit here, the Steppe’s skies were quiet - the late morning displayed in a bright, deep blue sky that was only marred by a few wisps of clouds. The wind was bitter but the sun warm, encouraging Mesec to take a moment to stand in a protected spot to enjoy the rays. So weak compared to the ones that he had grown used to in the Throat - but comforting in their similarity all the same.

A long cry from the skies woke him from the daydream where he had been surrounded by warm sand instead of snow and he glanced up to see the shadowy figure of Lucius loop before heading further north to scout in the mountains. No sign yet, but they’d keep looking for a while at least. The near anonymity of his and Ki’irha’s meeting had been welcome then but he felt only frustration with the decision now. It would be easier to check up on her if he knew where to look!

With a sigh, the shadowy figure moved from the sunlight and continued to wander through the rocky formations and wondering just what the chances were that they would find her here again.
