A voice broke the quiet. Golden harks leapt awake, but the rest of the creature was much slower to be drawn out.

The gold had been enjoying his cubby in this secluded place very much. It rolled in fog often, and visitors were usually quiet lost by the time they made it to this spot, if they ever did get here before giving up. Still, it wasn’t the safety of mountain gates, so the gold had taken the habit of sleeping with the invisibility cloak draped over him. All that could be seen was a dark deer towards the back of a dark cut in to the walls of shrubs in the corner of the clearing. So the gold had also taken habit of sleeping without much concern, and worry for intruders. Today though, it seemed the afternoon sleep would be interrupted.

Earth eyes finally open under the clothe, peering out. They were sharp and alert the second they opened, but no ill did they bear against the scene before them. A colt, incredible young, stood proud on the rocks of a creek peering in. The gold’s head now rose slightly with interest, the deer behind him stirring. The cold was a handsome color, but on his face he bore a vicious white skull. The marking was a well known legacy in this country, but the appendages attached to it were not. Wings. Horns. Had the line of Confutatis been tainted already? A smirk rose on the gold’s lips, glad to see the idiotic racist banter ruined by flesh. Of course it could have been another’s child. Skull markings were not too terribly uncommon, but the gold would like to see the despicable mare view one walking about with her mark and the additions she deemed unworthy.

The colt addresses another and the gold hesitates, expecting a mother. But there didn’t seem to be anyone like that about. Harks twitch under his cloak but nothing can be found to signal an adult. ”Haldir stay here” The deer needed no invitation, his dreams were still happily dancing across vales and lakes. The gold though rose from his hiding, though still let the cloak conceal him. Neck and a hind stretched out when he stood, though all the rustle was hushed by his own magic.

The gold wasn’t exactly in an exuberant mood. His slumber had calmed what was usually lately a fully dangerous madman. For the moment he was calm, and subdued, but still ticking with the desire to have a bit of fun at someone else’s expense. These lands were shrouded in mystery….perhaps he would add to it. The gold moved unseen and unheard through the scene, and came to the water’s edge. A small smirk played on his lips as a cloak wrapped cloven hoof kicked a small stone, and splashed it silently near the colt. Though it made no noise it broke the water’s surface, and scattered a few fish nearby. He steps back, withdrawing slightly, though his head tilted with a curiosity to see the scene unfold, and to let his waking mind plan a few more surprises.
