Rein
no living man could find the key
And from that day a very beast was he
He lurked.

The boy's rest had been unceremoniously disturbed. His golden fur bristled, angry simply for the sake of being angry. He made it his goal to find the disturbance. He hadn't yet made up his mind on what he was going to do once he found it, however. Part of him wanted to scatter a bit of blood on it, to eliminate it, just so he could use his magic. But that would be cruel, and prove to him even more how deadly his magic is and how he shouldn't use it.

He didn't want anyone to die, after all.

Snap.

Rein jumped, his fur bristling out of fear this time. His ears pricked forward, his dark navy gaze widening as it searched the moon kissed ground for the creature he heard. It was a frog. The slimy creature bounded away as quickly as Rein had noticed it's presence. The boy's nerves settled somewhat, but the incident made him second guess his judgment.

Perhaps it wasn't wise to be out lurking in a field at night.

He turned to move back to his resting spot, but saw quite an imposing figure blocking his way. The boy slunk to the ground, watching the horse, a stallion no doubt, and the creature at his side. The man looked daunting, with wings and feathers where they shouldn't be and a crown further proclaiming his superiority over the colt.

Rein swallowed, his eyes flicking to the ground and finding a suitable, sharp rock, in the event he would have to use his magic. Even the stallion had wings and a horn, Rein doubted he had electric blood. The boy had his secrets, his defenses, and despite being afraid to use them, he was prepared to.

He straightened up and strode toward the figure and his hound, suppressing the fear within him ('cause holy shit the guy was even taller up close, shit, shit, shit). Rein looked up to the man with his exotically crimson lined features, blinking his dark lashes curiously (oops, would the man see Rexanna in the boy's innocent charade? If the child had known of their relations, perhaps he wouldn't have approached the stallion at all).

"Hello," the boy stated softly, slowly, his gaze flicking to the hound, resting on the pink of her tongue and saliva. He had never met a dog up close, or, as a matter of fact, a hybrid like this stallion. First time for everything, he assured himself to keep him from running away again.
