Good God, under starry skies we are lost,
And into the breach we got tossed

Dacianna had always known her stocky body was much better suited to manual labour rather than painting a pretty picture. She was built more like a warrior than a scholar, but she shared none of the same desires that soldiers often did (from her own experience). Instead, she was interested in stories, magic, history and, perhaps more of a vice, general gossip. Admittedly the roan liked a good eavesdrop here and there. Her pursuits were usually adventure driven so when the order came down that a herd quest was to be completed and she was in charge of the digging, her face had screwed into an unappreciative grimace at the thought of carving out a trench. Was this what scholars of the Edge did? Shift rocks and dig holes? She wondered why they needed a parameter of glass spikes in the first place, it seemed a bit— macabre. Her thoughts turned to the Moon Goddess— she already glowed in the dark, fell over her own feet, was incapable of whispering or hearing properly and now she wanted her scholar to dig a trench around the Edge? Dacianna had never met such a demanding God, but at least she was better than the monsters in the Rift.

In the end, Daci had begrudgingly decided she had better get on with it and travelled to the herd borders to inspect what needed to be done. The terrain was rough with rocks, roots and remains of glass, they would have to remove all of it if they were to even begin digging the trench they needed. The Philosopher raised her head to the nagging wind and called for the volunteers, there was no point complaining, it was time to get on with it. Once they had all arrived the scholar began by introducing herself and the task ahead.

"For those who don't know, I'm Dacianna, a Philosopher who volunteered to lead the digging of the trench" she began, offering each one that appeared a gentle, welcoming smile before she continued on with proceedings. "Let's start clearing from this end and make our way round, be careful moving some of the bigger rocks" she cautioned "and if you get too tired, take a break" there was no point in them breaking their backs trying to do it. Dacianna had spent enough time around mining horses in Borghul to understand that everyone had a different limit and forcing them all to work to the same level was stupid and dangerous.

"Feel free to voice any questions or concerns, your help is greatly appreciated" with that Dacianna wrapped up the short officially of it and waited patiently for a while to see if there were any problems before beginning the work herself. She found an obnoxious rock and levered her horn under it before flipping it away. A process she would repeat many times.
