She had been healed since her last spar, courtesy of the caretaker Agnodice. Her body had mended in the freshwater ponds of the Falls, albeit more slowly than it would have healed in the sea’s salty embrace.

But, still, she was healed and whole, now. And she was ready, wanting, to return to battle; to further hone her skills against these earth-bound equines; to further hone her skills against the challenges of the earth and gravity. So she left the comfort of her pond. She even left the presumed comfort of her new herd and home—though it would take time for her loyalties to truly sink into the waterfall-laden herdlands.

And some small ounce of betrayal struck her chest when she thought of the Falls as her home. It was not Akvo. Her people did not populate its lush soil. It had soil, rather than coral homes and sand. She sighed, long legs and muscular body pumping to carry her up the steep incline that she ascended.

Slowly, her body was adjusting to the weight of gravity. But she was not entirely ready for such a long and arduous climb. The woman could swim for days beneath the ocean, but on land… On land, it seemed that she could barely manage the difficult climb.

Scaled ears perk as a call sank into them. It was challenging, just as the dark demon’s scream (Volterra) had sounded on the Flats. Her sides heaved as she crested the final rise to the lush field that stretched before her. Was she ready to take on an opponent after scaling such a steep and long trail?

She snorted at the thought. She was Akvian. She was a warrior. She could take on whoever called for a fight. So she surged onto the green-drenched field, beneath a brightly shining sun. It was hot and bright atop the rise, but her scaled skin could not sweat. It only twitched beneath the heated rays.

Her strong, even steps faltered only once as unblinking eyes caught sight of the challenger. Pale jade wings spread out around his smaller and stockier form. Where she was tall, lithe, and athletic, this stallion was compact and muscular.

She spared a brief glance at his darkly spiraled horn; but her gaze was truly for his wings. She had not sparred one with wings before. She had fought for her life against predators of the sky, but never had she willingly crossed blades with a winged opponent.

Steadying her mind with a deep, loud breath, she let loose a haunting and challenging bellow across the soft soil. Her webbed hooves cut into the rich earth as she charged towards the man with outstretched wings. Her ridged neck arched and her horned head lowered as her fleet legs powerfully carried her towards him.

Though she did not know how to fight those with wings, but she still harbored a hatred for those appendages. And so she channeled that hate in her attack, long and bladed horn aiming for his left wing joint to slice and cleave it from the man’s body.
