Dutiful, he picked up a trot and began moving. Beside him loped Henrietta, the only creature he would allow constantly by his side. After a few aimless minutes of trotted, Caleb began galloping. Henrietta continued her even lope, slowly falling behind him which she was perfectly okay with. As his hooves pounded into the water, salty sprays flung upwards from his hooves beating it. His muscles rippled powerfully with every single movement. At his flanks, his massive ebony wings unfurled and spread wide. Evenly, they began to beat. The momentum paired with the flapping granted his body flight, and soon he was soaring above the salt land.
From above, he still couldn't really see much. His molten eyes could only find Henrietta's body loping around beneath him. The beast ascended, with each beat of his powerful appendages he gained feet of altitude. His salty legs and tail hung limp beneath him, flowing through the wind as he began to glide.
From here, he could see the extent to which the Halycon Flats reflected. The sky was perfectly mirrored on it's smooth surface. If he hadn't know it was a salt flat, he would've thought the ground way below him was some sort of reflective marble. Each porcelain cloud, the crystalline sun, the cerulean sky.. they were all perfectly copied onto the salt flats. The smooth transition between ground and sky at the horizon was flawless and added a sort of eerie endlessness.
And then he knew... No one patrolled here because they would get lost. Caleb had been cautious about that- if he needed to go back, he could turn around and head in a straight line. The beast hadn't gone left or right, he just moved straight ahead and backwards, leaving the potential of getting lost rather minimal.
This is such a bad post, I suck at openings :( Open for anyone! Caleb is just patrolling
