Frostfall was in full force now. Loretta, a dog built for the cold weather, was happy. Archibald watched her as he trotted, her red and white body springing up in the snow and pouncing down and yips rolling from her maw. She was good for him, teaching him what it was to love. Loretta cared not for the things Archibald did or what Mandrake commanded of him, she was merely bonded to what Archibald was. Not only did she love Archibald, she was protective and loyal and listened to his orders no matter what. Archibald knew it was hard for her, especially watching him fight Birch and him making her stay with Casimir during the invasion. He needed her to listen, though, for she was not ready for battle. She was too young, and Archibald would not risk harming her for his gain.
Upon entering the Threshold Archibald quickly caught sight of a gray figure. Mare, as the scent screamed. Lifting his chin the stertorous warrior advanced towards the mare. When at an appropriate distance Archibald stopped, ears pinning forward to catch any of her words. His golden eyes instantly locked on her's, Loretta's amber eyes following suite. "Hello, newcomer, I am Archibald. I reside in the Windtossed Foothills herd as a warrior--would you be interested in refuge?" Archibald lifted a questioning brow, noting the fatigue that was so easily inferred from her body.
