These moving parts inside of me -
Well, they’ve been shutting down for quite some time
Leaving only rust behind

You were unaccustomed to fillies and colts and solely in tune with the nature of your wolven friend (if one could call him such). In fact, as you stared at the rosy colored girl with her ochre eyes and white snipped nose, all you could imagine was the dozens of waves you were missing as they rolled onto the shore. Some were quite small while others were quite large and they often pushed you about as they fell into your knees in the shallows of the sandy shelf you were continuously told to mind. You hadn’t yet tested the depths beyond the sandbar, because Romul was trained to pay you a harsh lashing should you disobey, but you knew that one day you would sneak a visit to the deep waters to play. It was a game you had become increasingly good at as you aged (fooling the wolf), but perhaps with this Vastra you would be able to win once and for all.

When the crimson girl had finally gathered the courage to ask what you’d been doing, you turned to face her with a devious smile. Little did she know how engrossed you’d become with finding ways to think ‘outside’ the box. Maybe if she’d known, she would have left you alone on the beach, but you hoped for more than a passerby who had no sense of adventure at all. “Yes!” you nearly squealed with delight when she’d asked, and then you welcomed her to your game by kicking up your heels and gallivanting once more into the waves as they sailed across the oceanfront. Romul was quick to follow behind now that you’d gained an onlooker and he appeared to panic slightly at the sight of your rambunctious behavior. Your mother had never been so high-strung.

Come –o- on!” you beckoned between fits of laughter as you watched Romul tire and turn away from the seaside.  He’d set the example for the other filly and endorsed an unintentional game of tag. On a whim, you turned to check on your friend (if you could safely call her that) and despite Romul’s warnings to stay close, you decided against his precautions. “Catch me!”

Again you spun away, kicking sand and shells about in your wake, you returned to your play as before. Only, hopefully this time, you wouldn’t be so alone when you trudged down the beach into the burning sunlight of the Throat.
