@Alune
She could hear the faintest sounds of rustling between them, and she knew what he was doing. Her heart skipped a beat, her breath caught in her chest. She’d met just a few members of the Edge, and though they were all quite gentle when handling her defect, none had made her path easier in such a literal sense and the act itself reminded her very much of her brother. She smiled, thanked the moon and stars that Alune welcomed her company.

She wondered if the time he’d spent alone was intentional. Ravel enjoyed being alone, but she enjoyed more-so being in the company of others, even if silence sat with them. Too much time alone made Ravel feel on edge, and lately the literal sense of that sensation was overwhelming enough.

The words Alune used amused the long-legged mare. She thought the eloquence of his vocabulary was beautiful, and when he spoke it sounded as if he were reciting a lovely verse. She nodded in response to his question. She’d stay with him for as long as he could stand her, she imagined. She liked the way he almost coddled, the extent of his caring nature reminded her of Alysanne. Alysanne, who had asked her if she’d met Alune.

She felt so very safe. She felt… for a moment, that this could be home. That it would be home, when her brother came to her. She couldn’t wait for him to meet the interesting people that had taken her in, cared for her without knowing her.

She felt safe, still, when she realized he was crafting glass. Such a dangerous medium, and she was so very curious about it -- and about so many other things. The ambiance of the glass shifting quickly became lulling to her, and she moved to lie beside him. It was normally such an awkward thing for her, especially to do around strangers, but she believed Alune would keep her safe, make her safe and that long neck of hers lowered her nose to the ground. She gently bumped her lips along the terrain, attempting to feel if the space available was clear for her. Though she meant to keep quite a bit of space between them, to do so she had to know where he laid and her nose came dangerously close. Her breath was steady as she focused on her ritual. She circled, quite like a dog would, before gently bending her legs and lying herself beside him. She prided herself for not touching him, though she was close enough for his warmth to reach out and caress her skin.

The quiet was nice, but she had so many questions and he’d opened a door. It was a relief to her, as the questions were beginning to overwhelm her. She hoped he would not regret it, and hoped he had quite a bit to craft.

She began with a soft voice: “How long have you lived here, Alune?”
★ harm her if it pleases you,
but death is not ready for her yet
