In a sweet and captivating moment, he catches her dark eyes before she looks away, but he lingers there with his gaze on her golden face as a gentle fond smile wove easily onto his lips. His own heart leapt into a faster rhythm, releasing butterflies into his chest that fluttered around, causing mayhem to the order of his thoughts and eventually made him, too, look away. The smile still remained though as he shuffled his feet nervously, his mind running through various questions, conversations, anything he could say to keep her there so they wouldn’t be parted again, but in the end it was Tandavi who beat him to the first ice breaker and, from then on, his bubbly nature took over. “You too Tandavi” he affectionately smiled, his feelings so sincerely plastered all over his young face and his gaze only momentarily switched from the Fire Dancer to her sooty friend “Natraj” he winked as his own foxes took the bait and joined in the game, a flurry of tails darting around. Meanwhile, Sacre turned back to Tandavi, clueless to her embarrassment as he battled with his staggering heart that still wouldn’t calm.

“How have you been?” he asked over the loud beating in his ears, his voice was still as bright as ever save for being a little quieter as shyness crept in. Why was he like this? Hadn’t he decided, when he had returned to Helovia, that if he met Tandavi again that he was just going to tell her that he liked her. It had sounded so simple in his head, why dance around the subject when he could just say it, out loud, and rid his heart of the anxiety. Yet, suddenly he was dumbstruck by what to say, after all this time he had found her again and here he was, fumbling over his words as he tried to understand the intricacies of feelings. What if he pushed her away by saying it? What if she avoided him forever? Even if she didn’t like him back, Sacre could live a one sided love, but if they couldn’t even be friends—could he risk that? Suddenly, his gaze dropped quickly to the floor as the angst over what to do got to him.

Sacre had a knack for making things more difficult if he could.

“I don’t know” he said abruptly before he clarified “the question you asked earlier, about me being here” finally his face rose again, the tangled black locks coming loose from his horn and falling messily beside it. “It’s silly but…” he mulled over his thoughts a moment, regarding Tandavi with a lopsided smile before continuing “when I came back to Helovia, it didn’t feel right to go back to the Dragons Throat” he finished. It was a very simple version of a long, painful story, but it demonstrated clearly Sacre’s own confusion at his own decisions, he didn’t know why he followed Mauja, he just felt like it was better to follow Mauja.

With that he gave in to the playful expression that bloomed onto his face, his eyes glittering with his next words as he teasingly added “we must be tied by fate” he snorted, only for Inari to throw an exasperated look at his naïve bonded.

”Too cheesy” he critiqued, but Sacre ignored him.
