Själ Movement, and then - -snap! "Zero?" The query is past Sjal's lips and into the woods before the frightened boy before her can speak. "Who's there?!" he almost shouts, his voice too high, too shaky. "Show yourself!" The princess had seen him through the trees and thought to surprise him, remembering the days of old when they would play together. Zekle would be her gallant knight, and she would be a pretty princess. She'd never really cared for it, in truth - letting him 'save' her from their imagined evils - but he'd always tried so hard to be her badass savior that she couldn't find the heart to tell him no. Never would she imagine that perhaps she would one day be the one to save him. "Z-zero, it's just me," the girl calls out, her voice wavering slightly as she steps out from beneath the trees. His tension and fear has her on high alert, and she finds herself jumping at nothing in spite of herself. Her friend is terrified, and she pauses, allowing him to see that it's just her and that she poses no threat. The moment allows her to look him over, and what she sees sickens her. He is not the Zero that she remembers. He is scarred - both physically and, it would seem, mentally - and she finds herself full of rage at whoever did this to him. Twice now she has been unable to help her friends when they needed her most. She will not let it happen a third time. Sjal swallows her anger and offers the stallion a bright smile, stepping tentatively closer. One step turns into two, and then she rushes to his side, reaching her muzzle out towards him as though she needs to run her muzzle over his body to check to see if he's okay. Except he isn't really, and she already knows that, somehow. It suddenly feels like nothing will ever be the same again. "Talk." --Ansgar.--  |
