Play the music low,
and sway to the rhythm of love;
The child’s eyes were wide and staring, swiftly fluttering from one face to the next, to the fires, to the stars…and sway to the rhythm of love;
She tried her very best to remain close to her daddy, though it surely was not because all the new people and commotion were making her nervous. She was brave, like Katua and Zubari! Besides, she told herself, it was better to stay nearby her father until she got a better idea where they were in proximity to everything else.
Arriving to a gathering of strangers, Maude feels her nerves melt away at the realization that the little, pretty voiced mare is telling people of their futures! As she spoke, smoke curled and wafted through the air before her, actually showing those gathered about the images that lilted from her lips.
Seeing her Auntie Ultima among those being told their futures, Maude whinnies a cheerful greeting as the mystic’s voice comes to a close, eagerly bouncing in place, her pretty while camellias bouncing in the girlish curls and braids Aelfwine had bound there early that day. Even more exciting than seeing Ultima, however, is when her daddy steps forward for them to have their own fortunes told!
Quite eager, she barely manages to wait for her dad to finish speaking before she’s blurting out: "And I’m Maude!"
