The Heart takes no heed of the painful cries the mortals deliver. Pain, in their sense of the word, is not something it can understand. Instead it takes the sound as a response to its attempts of communication, which satisfies the flaming hollow.
With the nearing approach of Lace and Fajira the red hues of the flames soften into a subtle blue. Although it would appear to be cool and gentle as similar colors of snow and ice are, the fire is hottest in this moment, the earth crumbling where they stand under the overwhelming degrees.
The pit begins to collapse rapidly, pulling the trio inward. The flames provide heat but they no longer burn, the brilliant blue having melted into a dark violet so abyssal it's hard to look upon.
Though panic is likely an unavoidable primary response, it is not hunger or otherwise cruel intent that lends the Heart this swallowing. There is a deeper purpose that lies in wait within, if only you have the courage to fall.
