Burning. Hell. Death. These thoughts ran through his mind, each taking it’s own claim. Like knives sinking into flesh, each hit him hard. He didn’t want to die. He wasn’t ready. What had he done to deserve it so quickly? He hadn’t even truly loved. He thought of Psyche. Why. Why do I have to go? I don’t want to! I have to finish this! He couldn’t shout, only could think. He was in too much pain to do anything but lie there. The burns where severe enough to cause every muscle that were attached to them ache, and altogether it was too much. He had never been in this much pain in his whole life. He mind started to float, and he blacked out a few times. He tried as much as he could to stay awake. He was afraid if he passed out all together he would die. He needed to live, not only for himself, but also for Psyche and the other unicorns. They were counting on him to help take the World’s Edge back, and according to Psyche, they needed him. Two things happened, and between the black outs they seemed to him to happen at the same time: he felt the ground below them move, and he heard screaming. He turned his head, and saw the equine across from him moving, and in a few moments later, him and his dragon fell into the pit of the Heart. His mind caught up with him a second later, and he realized he was moving into the pit as well. The ground seemed to be dropping into the pit. The flames had changed colors to be blue and yellow. In a quick panic, he tried to run. He lopsidedly tried to stand. His hooves wouldn’t work probably, and although they made it to the right position on the ground, he couldn’t turn to get up. He tried several times to do this, and each time he became more distressed. Since he was further away from the center now, the ground was moving slowly, but soon it picked up, and by the time he was done struggling he was a few feet from the center. He gave up. This is how I die? Wonderful. He felt sullen, and although his demise was upon him, he wasn’t quite upset about it. Maybe this is a punishment. I don’t know what I did wrong, but I deserve it. He kept his head turned to the pit, and as he passed through the newly formed flames he felt heat instead of burning. He was perplexed by this, but his thoughts were cut off as he felt the ground drop beneath him. He turned as he fell. He saw below him fire, and all he felt was heat. He missed the cold now, that was for sure, but he had already accepted his fate. He said his goodbyes to the World, and to all the things it held for him: Pain, Despair, and a brief moment of Love.
