Blood.
It was a smell most distinctive to a doctor.
The flaxen physician stirred from his den beneath the tree, and with a glance to sweet Maude we was relieved to find that it was not her blood he sensed. A groan escaped his ashen maw as he squeezed from the cave neath the arbor, stretching his legs all the while flicking his ears about and breathing deeply; he would use each second as best he could.
He hoped that it was just a Lantern Fox's prey that was bleeding so profusely - as he strode through the trees searching for a squeak or a cry the night became all the more surreal.

In the end it didn't take too long to find the sprawl of red-stained feathers, skin, muscle and fur. Upon finding the dainty creature among the Fog, Tilney gave a soft gasp, freezing only momentarily when he looked upon the fallen angels face.
Erthë.

"What have you done"
was the bronze mans whisper, crooning his lantern over her injuries and shrugging his cloak off of his shoulders, then casting it over the blood stained bodice to keep his patient warm.

Before he even attempted to wield mother moons gift, Tilney set off across the moonlit meadow to a nearby fir - he would create an antiseptic to cleanse and soothe the wounds so that scarring might not occur; sometimes magic couldn't heal all. On his way back to the damaged doe he chewed the vile tasting branch to make a choppy paste, then smearing it with his muzzle over the nastiest gashes and even over the most bruised skin, hoping it might cool it somewhat.
Then, it was time to ask for the mothers mercy.

Closing his eyes briefly the flaxen physician focussed his mind on the wounds that immobilised this young doe, the earth she lay upon and the power of the moonlight beaming down between each pine and illuminating each needle; the power was drawn.
A thick, lacing fog lifted from the earth and strangled the foliage surrounding Erthë, then made its way towards the fae's wounds and bruises.
Tilney begun with the wounds to the head and near anything vital - superficial wounds would come last. With the power of the moon he needed to save this young woman.
And so with all his heart he tried to do just that.
