"You seem lost."The voice came from somewhere behind Myrrine, and it belonged to a young weanling named Vinati. The little sand princess had been escorted across the Dragon's Throat bridge and allowed to go her own way on a rare trip beyond the borders of the Throat. She didn't mind being kept on her home sands; on the contrary, there was no place she'd rather be. But sometimes she needed more than sun and sand and waves to inspire her latest creation, and this was one of those times. She had set out around midmorning and only just arrived at the fabled Heart Caves.
It was the echoing sobs that had coaxed the young girl deeper into the caves. The girl had assumed that the tears belonged to some long-forgotten ghost and, in the hopes that perhaps she could be helpful, had attempted to find the source. Through room after room she had gone, and imagine her surprise when she found not a specter, but a very real, very solid mare collapsed upon the ground and sobbing. Never one to leave a horse in need, the girl had approached and said, "You seem lost," in that dreamy, whimsical voice of hers, and here we are.
The mare was young and presumably quite sad to be crying that hard. Vinati tried to remember if she had ever felt hopeless enough to show her dismay in such a passionate way and came up short. Even when Ave had died, she had known that she would see him again. Hers was a unique ability that spared her much of the pain that others seemed to carry with them, and one day she would find the desire to share it. For now, though, she merely watched the stranger, nodded a greeting to the painted ghost nearby, and waited for a response to her strange introduction.
"Talk talk talk."
