Tilney

The babe's fumbling was what dinted Tilneys heart. Who couldn't adore that? Why did the other children see weakness instead of the sweetness the flaxen patriarch saw. In any case Tilney hoped and prayed that Maude at least treated Gawen with the respect he was due - perhaps he would ask Gawen later.
Next came the splashed colts confusion at being called cool and struck with an invitation he didn't ever expect to recieve. Tilney would only smile delicately towards him, hoping not to worry the child or let his leaping words get to Gawens head. "Oh! you do!?" was Tilney's response, shocked as ever to hear those words leave this particular colts maw. It wasn't as if he'd evern oticed him scurrying in the shrubbery and following his every footstep.

"Well then," The physician began, turning away from Gawen all the while gesturing with his nose for the little one to follow on. As he stepped forth through the greenery and snow-splashed ground he continued. "We're looking for Cinnamon Fern. It grows around here somewhere and it has a bright orange stalk with green leaves. Be careful though! Only dig it up with your hooves - it's ever so spicy."

As the chestnut began his search, watching the ground with each slow step, Tilney thought of what he could ask Gawen - He wasn't Maude so perhaps songs didn't interest him or pretty things. Tilney caught himself wondering what he himself was interested in as a colt, if anything.
He could recall being fascinated by rocks and old people quite a lot, but there wasn't much else to know about six-month-old Tilney. Apparently exposure and age changed one's interests for the better.
One other thing became ensnared in the strings of his memory, however; He could recall wishing for friends. Most ardently.

"Say Gawen," the ginger looked up from his search to meet the colder gaze of his young friend "Are the other foals treating you nicely? What are your friends names?" Provided the poor child had any.
Maude had Katua, Kiada and perhaps Zubari, although that colt seemed somewhat temperamental. He could tell Gawen fawened over her whenever they were in close proximity and it was that one thing that caused Tilney to give the child a close eye. It was as if he felt threatened by the tiny pegasus - he would after all grow into a stallion all too soon. A stallion that could sweep Maude off her feet and carry her away. Away from here, away from him.

ooc; so sorry this took forever, was very sick!
