It was strange. Even as time passed and seasons changed, the feeling remained the same. A grin grows on the dark golden’s lips as he steps on forward into the hedges. The snow about them hadn’t dissipated the eerie fog wrapping the garden maze. And he was glad for it. For several long month he’d slunk through this place and called it a resting place. It was his land for a while, and he had stalked every inch of it. He had loved it. The towering hedges, the mystic fog, and all-encompassing notion that this place was not….good. Those who entered came already with their sense of dread. It didn’t take much for him to stoke the fires. Perfect.

But then not perfect. Which is why he was here. In this land he had also wasted, his talents spent fishing about for trinkets and vanity, none of which he seemed to get. Not that he would admit it to any who asked, but the gold had grown bored…of freedom. It was so much easier to do what he did when there were people about to watch, scream in horror, celebrate in victory, or simply gawk. Tasseled tail switched at his sides contentedly at the thoughts. So that was why he was here. The gold was no fool. He knew what he wanted, so he’d gone after it. What better place to worm his way into than the most booming of lands. Not a bad start. Sure they were the largest, but that wasn’t why he found their lands favorable. They would soon grow too large. Their massive power would have, as always, consequences. Either their enemy list would grow too long. Or they would get tired of holding back their swords. Either way, it would soon be quite a fun place to be…

Unfortunately it came at a price, the King’s son….though that’s not how the gold thought about it. Rexanna’s son, had a better ring to it. Kianzo. Perhaps it was a test, or perhaps just a desperate move, but the gold had quite enjoyed being given a task. A challenge. Not to mention he would see the better end of the deal. A huff of a laugh snorts out as he steps on, making the stag by his side flinch. The current situation brings the gold back to the moment and an eye glances to the stag. The deer had never favored these woods, and returning to them to face whatever held the colt was not an enjoyable thought. Yet he came just the same. ”Are you sure….” The stag questioned, feeling the gold’s eye on him. He got no more of an answer than a stern look. Of course the gold was sure the colt was here. What held the creature he was unsure, but nothing would hold him long. The gold would promise him that. The dagger had shown them only moments before the pale and gold coat against the green snow covered hedge. Perhaps he could not see clearly where he was, but it was only a matter of time.

A scent on the breeze helped, a track in the snow….only a matter of time….
