the giving tree
The Turtle smiled and laughed, it was a beautiful sight! Helovians gathered in peace on the Giving Tree’s night! His head, how it swiveled ‘round, to and fro; seeing all their reactions to gifts he would bestow. The the year had been long and this season so grey; but warmth, kinship, and presents made that fade away.
So the Turtle settled down, his shell coated with ice; knowing that the Tree’s warm light would suffice— giving the Helovians hope and good cheer to last them through the upcoming year. Though troubles and trials awaited them all, with this peace and this light they wouldn’t fall.
He spoke as his shell became one with the snow,
“You have helped me and yourselves, more than you know.”
