They had nice grass, he had to give them that. It was difficult to come by, but after a slow journey up a narrow path, he'd found a delightful plateau of snow dusted green. Since arriving in Helovia a few weeks ago, he had gradually began to put on some much needed weight. While his belly was always substantial, even now his ribs were just below the surface of his shaggy, unkempt coat. As he grazed, there was almost a frantic feel about it as he nudged the white from the surface to take large mouthfuls out of the delicious buffet that surrounded him. His large ears swiveled constantly, the knowledge that this place was laden with other equines heavy in his mind. Good grass indeed, but far too over populated.

Honestly, Nero wasn't exactly sure why he remained here. So far he'd come across more horses in one meeting then he'd conversed with in years. Perhaps it was common sense, to stay in a land that clearly had enough. That didn't strike him as exactly true though. After all, he knew of places south, north, east of here (he wasn't quite sure) that would have plenty, too, and plenty of alone time as well. In truth, it could have been Romina haunting him. He wanted to know what had happened to her, and by staying in Helovia, he was increasing his chances of meeting the outer-worldly foal again. It made him sick to think of all the harm that could come to her. That being said, he hadn't yet met anyone openly violent- he was starting to think they were more the stabbing in the back type of people. The amount of different horses that'd left scents was overwhelming, and out of all of them he was sure there'd be a good handful that were downright terrifying.

Not that a stallion as big as he would find another horse terrifying! Of course not. He snorted to himself, regretting it instantly as it caused a flurry of snow to settle on his snout. Blah. He shook his head. He absolutely loathed winter, disliked summer, and wasn't a fan of autumn either. Spring was alright, he guessed- a bit warm, but not too hot, plenty of food... The plain brute sighed loudly, shaking off his pigeon-like wings as another light sprinkling of cold settled on the mottled feathers. His mustard optics scanned the flat land, and still finding it empty other then himself, he settled back to filling his belly. Other then the temperature, it was alright here. Perhaps few horses came here and he could make a little makeshift home for himself, not that he strictly needed one.

Although all his life he'd just wandered, by nature he was fairly lazy, and the idea of not having to walk too far every day was quite pleasant. He would, of course, have to find a water source, but with grass so lush he doubted it would be far off. Even on this winters day the sky was clear and bright. If another horse entered he'd also be able to see them pretty clearly. Silently pleased with himself, the draft stag dropped to the ground with a groan, the motion clumsy. Most of what he did looked ungainly- from galloping to flying, he looked oddly proportioned and laughable. He didn't let it bother him anymore, or at least that's what he told himself.
