He was so very tired. It seemed like everywhere he went there were more horses, and his feeble defenses were on the edge of collapsing. His open aggression or adamant solidarity did not seem to be working on the large amount he wandered across, and having to constantly think about appearing menacing was exhausting. Why couldn't he just be left alone? All he wanted was a full belly, somewhere just a tiny bit warm, and then he'd be somewhat happy. As happy as he'd ever been, anyway.

It didn't really cross his mind that there should be more to life then the very necessities. He liked to think he enjoyed the basics and that’s why he stuck to them, without any complications such as a mate, friends, children…. No, that was all far too difficult. Especially the whole mate thing. Nearly every single mare he came across was heavily faulted in some way- either through ego, or something more sinister. He said nearly, as he was sure all were, he just hadn’t spent enough time in their company to show their true selves.Of course, he himself was no knight in shining armour with his dull grey and black coat, darkened further with dirt. His character also left a lot to be desired, and he had no illusions that he was perfect- just that no one else was any better, really.

He in himself was rather self-preoccupied, he mused. After all, he doubted that other horses cared what he considered them, but he just could not help but share his opinions. Rather silly. The large draft shrugged his immense shoulders and finally focused on his surroundings, mustard eyes blinking sleepily. He was at first thankful he seemed to be alone, and was also grateful this area did not seem to be cold like most of where he’d wandered. It was as if spring had slipped into the water and touched the trees low hanging branches, sending life shooting through them even as mere hours ago it was a wasteland of blue. Secondly he noticed the pool of water, and hoping it was as tepid as his surroundings, slowly made his way into it. The water was still extremely brisk, and the stag snorted, standing to his fetlocks. He really needed a bath, but was it worth it? With a grunt, his thick legs stepped deeper, and with a tremulous effort after some pawing, he began to roll in the water.
