At least she was civil - Tilney had half-expected Nephele to hiss like a viper or spit like a camel. Words and countenance as lovely as rose water, the amazonian's attitude was almost unrecognisable from the kind he had recieved upon their first meeting. Cloaked in a tight shroud of arrogance and zipped up with a taste for rudeness; that was the mare Tilney remembered. It was still baffle him how she could offer him her most sacred treasure and yet never her name; that had been something earned through chinese whispers or perhaps even pure luck. And dear Aelfwine - she had been the one to learn of his abhorred mistake and her name, his twin colts, and now she had been dragged here as a mediator.
It was when his conference with the healers drew to a close that the stag ambled nervously over the bridge, emerald gaze glued to its firey structure. Having asked Aelfwine for a word wth Nephele alone, he strode over the bridge on his lonesome. Tilney dare not look up, he dare not look at the horizon where he knew Nephele would be waiting and, he assumed, his sons would be in wait as well. Upon approach however, the physician that the woman stood alone. "Nephele" Tilney spoke clearly, deeply, and fearsomely to anyone who knew the man. Casting his gaze over his shoulder to look for his sister for reassurance he then recalled asking her to wait; what a mistake he had made. There was no one else he wanted by his side - except maybe Arah, though he was certain his ice warrioress would be the end of Nephele. Such pleasantries from the mistress caused him to grit his teeth - he had not come here for a chat. Entirely out of character for the bright fellow, tilney gave a gruff snort and merely replied with a low, grumbling question of his own. "Where are my sons?" the stag uttered sternly, his voice demanding his question be answered. |
