The boy isn’t aware of how large or wide the lands are. The fact that the older stallion imparts some kind of idea that there is more to explore, find, discover – sends an excited lurch within the boy. “It NEVER melts?”

Saoirse blinks, and tries his best to imagine such a frigid place. Despite that his young eyes have not yet witnessed a full years worth of seasons, to imagine the snow never melting appears abysmal to the boy. When sandy dunes surround the entirety of his life, the reach of the rays that heat his hide – how can anyone live in a land forever captured in the snows?

Such thoughts send an unwarranted chill through his body. Pressing his fluffed wings snug against his sides.

As predicted – and hoped – they’re joined by the screeches and caws of a fairly unknown parrot. It speaks? The boy is awed by the creature, regardless of the animal’s nefarious curses. It lands harmlessly in a tree as the boy giggles, amused by the pair’s antics - as its accompanied by a familiar blue mare. Aware of the mare’s presence in the herd, her prowess as a warrior – but not yet introduced.

He doesn’t realize that the old stallion has pressed towards him. And nor does Ampere’s firm words impress an air of caution in the boy’s careless, unbound spirit. Without warning the familiar face of Iskra comes shooting through. Severing his focus from the sharp lines of Ampere’s mouth, or her inquiry. “ISKRA! HI!”

The boy beams, elated that his friend has appeared, and jumps in his spot – giddy. As he makes a crash landing along the grounds, the boy steps closer, hooves bumping into his motionless body. Muzzle pressed towards the other boy. “Are you okay?” Laughing, perhaps nervously at first as a wing nudged Iskra’s shoulder when he made to stand.

“What was that?! Was it fun? It looked kinda scary…” A trail of concern reverberates in his voice, still looking about for wounds. Only briefly drawn back to the adults, when his mother’s name is mentioned.

“Oh yeah! Hi Miss Ampere, Mother of Companions!” It was nearly too much stimulus for the boy. What had been a worn and tired body, sparked and vibrated violently back into life. Grinning stupidly, awed, that he’d finally met one of his heroes. “My ma was patrolling, I think? But… but she’d been gone for a while. And I didn’t know what to do.” With another inhale, he glanced up at the stallion who’d brought him back from the interior. Casting a wing to point at the black unicorn.

“This here’s old and pointy! I mean – Albrecht…” The boy giggles shyly, casting his gaze away, and into the forests that surround the coasts.
