As she stood there, she attempted to pick up something from deep within. Anything, to confirm that the sun did not trick her eyes – and that the beam of light was not a fool’s hope. Focus, to trigger the unknown tether resting inside, somewhere in her spirit.

The mare is hesitant however. The search is not an easy one, it feels messy and painful, and perhaps it isn’t the best time to try and figure out these sorts of things out in the open. Ru’s hesitancy is answered by the zephyr’s cry. It broke her gaze from the unknown mists ahead of her, and casts a quick glance to find its source. What she finds is peculiar, foreign – and despite trying to rake through her memory, the image of the black and white bird is largely unknown to her.

Ru’s bright eyes narrowed, cautious. Her wings tighten against her sides. Trepid thoughts pass however, when Mesec’s form are unveiled by the mists. The dunskin is released from her tightened features, vaguely recalling the stallion from herd gatherings. She shifts her body to face him, providing a curt nod and a customary ‘chirp’ of approval. Ru does not want to traverse alone, or else be tempted to dig deeper into her thoughts, her memories. She understood she had not taken time to review the days and months that had passed by. At one point in her life she would have found no use for it. But as her purpose waned, and as her grasp of the other herd members wavered with the coiling mists – a review, introspection would hopefully sort the worry trailing behind.

She eyes the zephyr out of curiosity, and a light, small smile cracks her otherwise emotionless features. Companion and equine are so similar. About to shift back into the direction she was travelling in, a familiar voice twists her focus. Staying her legs, that were about to twitch and coil into action. They shuffle instead with a swish of her tail.

Iona was it?

The young woman follows the stranger’s gaze, as she releases a quiet, rumbling whinny. Cracked, and jagged in the air when it expels from her mouth.

The World’s Edge Specter appears worn. Perhaps it’s the strain that is imbedded in her eyes, or the way her body moves – subtle as it was, there was something different. It takes another moment, as Iona regards Mesec and draws Ru’s eyes to her chainmail. A curious, rather envious coo emits from Ru’s lips. And steps a little closer, as if to get a better look of the material. Raising a brow, she wonders how she might attain such materials.

The subject quickly changes as the pair exchange words. Snapping her sky-bound eyes to Iona’s green, blinking.  

Ru nods in response. And as she suspects they – she – want to know her name. So she gives a quick - “Ahhh… Ah!” - and plucks a small feather from the wing that she shifts forward.

Call me feather, - before releasing the white, small piece to the air. And watched it pointedly – with a weary gaze – shaking her head when Iona inquires of her patrol.

Nothing exciting.

Ru raises her wings in a shrug, and gestures to the trail ahead of them with an – “Ah,” before leading the group, if they would follow her.

She wonders if Iona’s mumbles refer to Toulouse. She follows her gaze into the blotted unknown, and inhales the thick air. The defender wonders if he’s continued his sparing. In any case she didn’t want him to get any better than she was. Selfishly she wanted to keep the win as it was. Seeing as it’s my only win, she grunts to herself.

I’m not even that good. She muses silently. And when mentions of Kaos are flung to the air, a sliver of doubt is pressed towards her.
