Thèo's words definitely didn't have the desired result. He had expected his verbal gesture towards how ridiculously high they were to curb his brother's enthuisiasm and instead nudge him towards a more realistic height.

But nope.

All things considered, he should have been expecting this response from his sparking counterpart. And, like Iskra, Thèo's life had been relatively free of physical pain and suffering, so the thought of plummeting downwards didn't carry with it the same sort of obvious terrors that it probably should have.

As Iskra's wings parted and dabbled on the breeze, Thèo's did the same. The cool air that ruffled and spread his feathers felt good, and somewhere an instinctual kernel of knowledge bloomed, suggesting that if, given the chance, his body would know what to do if he leaped from the cliff.

"On three?" Thèo asked, turning a bright stare towards Iskra. They were boys - brothers - just starting out life. Learning to fly. Nothing bad could happen to them.
