Before his mother's death, the colt was happy. He spent his days exploring his new home, finally feeling like he fitted in somewhere, that he was part of something bigger here in the Throat. He had his family around him and lived in a land that fitted him like a hand to a glove, with its wide open sands to fly around and its cool oasis to bathe in.

Then came Kaos. Then came his mother's death. Now, the calf can gain pleasure from nothing.

He spends his days blundering like a lost puppy through the sands. Trying to hide the grief is easier than facing it, so he keeps himself distracted whether it be through training, flying, or sleeping. He knows it is only a temporary solution, that the pain is going to hit him one day and that he might explode with the force of it, but that is a problem for another time. Right now, blessed oblivion is all he has.

Imagine his surprise, then, when his dull gaze lands upon a sudden explosion of flame. He launches towards it, wings flared and ready to protect the Throat - because dying whilst defending his home will reunite him with his parents, and his deep depression tells him that that would be a good thing - with his bull-horned head angled forwards ready to charge whatever hell-spawned monster is coming to take the Throat. He skids to a halt in front of the flames, churning up a cloud of sand with his hooves, just in time to see a roan-coloured filly disappear in the depths of the inferno.

In her place is...a snake. The large colt's ears pin and he snorts warily, knowing instinctively that snakes are bad, that they can kill a child with a single bite. He edges closer, wings still flared to improve his size, and performs an odd little war-dance in front of the offending snake to try and frighten it off. When it speaks, Arakh's eyes nearly boggle out of his head. Since when do snakes talk? "You! Gezri! What you do with that filly?" The bulky boy stomps his feet again, trying to look as fearsome as possible in the face of this potentially-child-eating snake.
