If there was ever a sporting event Yael wants to observe, it’s Single’s Night; where the game isn't about pure strength, but how well you can read your match. Let the children have their fun, she thinks wryly, feeling very much like an old widow all of a sudden. This night is not for her. Alas, there are no cures for heartache, save time, so the little golden mare is content to settle herself on the edge of the firelight and watch the pairs circle ‘round and ‘round. Oh yes, she is quite content over there, even going so far as to take a couple of apples for herself and nibble on them. Flashes of light betray her movement (she’s not trying to hide in any way, but she also wouldn’t want to be mistaken for a participant.
A pleasant warmth begins to spread through her body as she finishes two out of four apples, and settles into a comfortable position. She’s lost track of those she knows - Lyanna, Toulouse, Alysanne, Isopia, Erthe - by now, but trusts they are having a good time. There is laughter and smiling, coquettish movements and suave words, bravado and awkwardness, and oh, how she loves watching it all. None of them, not even herself, probably realizes just how much they needed some light-heartedness in their lives. After all, the sun still rose the day after Kaos’ reveal. Life goes on, and never-ending vigilance is wearing on both body and soul.
They deserve this break, Yael thinks. The fight will come to them all soon enough.
