It was unlike Dragomir to become emotional while in the midst of a social gathering (probably because he rarely was involved in them to begin with), but the sight of the golden mare becoming a silver dragon forces cracks all through the masculine structures that bar away the stallion’s feelings. When the Mountain then, too, becomes a golden dragon, the dam breaks away, and the crafter feels tears well up in his eyes, as his heart swells with the bittersweet sensation of loss, and love. There were times when he was sure he had moved on from the loss of Mirage, and the times that she had fostered among these trees. The image, however, of dragons clearing branches, and rending the earth, brought her memory so poignantly to mind that it was difficult to maintain his usual stoic façade, and, clearing his clenching throat awkwardly, managing to do so only after the dragon-women have already started on the task at hoof, he wipes his tears away on his knee, and hopes that no one noticed his temporary weakness. He hoped that, wherever she was, Mirage would know that her memory lived on, and that others had risen to walk in her hoof prints. Moving to push the cleared dirt away from the edges of the forming pit, the stallion finds peace of mind in the task, even if he is soon covered in granules of dirt and smudges of clay for his efforts.
