The pup they’re following emits a high squeal of - something- which Yael can only surmise means that it’s found either a clue or the missing child. Turning to look, from her vantage point, she is surprised to see the missing otter tumbling head-over-heels with an egg in its paws. Clearly heading for the river, Yael is not initially alarmed because… well… aren’t otters able to swim well? Maybe it takes time to learn? A second glance at the bouncing duo's trajectory tells her that maybe the water in the river is just a leeeettle too fast for it to navigate safely. She joins the rush for the river from on high, though all are too late to stop the boy from hitting the water with a spash.
For once, at a loss for what to do, Yael decides that there’s enough of them crowding around the banks of the river - someone is bound to grab the pup, right? If not - Yael tries to follow the pup’s movement from above, flying low over the heads of the others and the rushing water, ready to grab him like a mother cat in case he miraculously made it through the barrage of wings, bodies, and nets. It could happen - currents are tricky like that.
