The hobbit was certainly not expecting the situation to turn as pear-shaped as it did. With so many jumped into the river, a bundle of gangly legs and wings all outstretched to fish the babe from the waters below, the possibility of it slipping past their nets was almost improbbable. Just as anticipated, the father reached his son, though what happened next would not have been anyone's guess. his ashen maw dropping low, silver eyes peering up wide with horror, Pippigrin gave an almighty gasp as the opsidian creature spun into shape. First it sent poor Yael flying, and soon enough had turned his vicious sights on a near-by dappled mare who harboured one of the otters. "HEY!" Pippigrin squeaked, throwing his weight back upon his hind legs as he thrashed fearsomely with his front hooves. "STOP!" the hobbit bellowed, landing back upon his front feet and taking a small number of threatening steps forward. Had he known he would be flying into the nest of a dragon today he would have stayed at home, but now that he was here, adrenaline had taken a huge hold of him. Never the kind to go looking for trouble, but that didn't mean he knew how to fight it when it found him. "Stop that at onc-" As he spoke he found himself under the gaze of an entire wildfire, a blaze and gaze so hot it was tt was if the very gates of hell sneered back. This was the first time he beheld eyes of a dragon. Not a moment later an actual flame was spat his way, and try as he would, the halfling could not dodge it. It's size was at least twice the width and height of his own small bodice, and there was no escaping it's firey damage. The blast from impact with the river water sent Pippigrin into the air, landing a whole twenty-feet away upon the river bank downstream covered in small cuts, burns and shrapnel.
