They were utter mayhem and calamity – the very way all kitsunes should’ve been – as soon as Lyra granted permission for play. Imogen chirruped, high and mighty, rising on her hind limbs too, tails flashing in eager delight, before extending one of her paws in an opportunity, in attempt, to bop the other on the nose. The moment of hilarity followed with an eager, zealous laugh, and then the ivory kitsune tried to dart away, between the Songbird’s legs, in effort to evade any incoming assaults. She hoped her longer legs would carry her quickly along the verdant venue, give her a chance to be triumphant and glorious, and the Songbird could only shake her head in amusement, glad to see the ivory vixen given an opportunity to relish another of her kind.

Her attentions focused back on the starlit beast as he answered her inquiry – kindling the age and extent of their bond. Lena and Imogen’s had long since flourished, years that felt like a lifetime (and she could almost forget a time before the fox; in between wars and sorrows, refugee expanses, deep in the woods, left alone and behind), and she had no doubt that Mesec and his newly hatched connection would be the same. The mention of the zephyr, however, rekindled, stoked, the wares of her memory, and her smile remained there, untarnished and beatific, as he noted the name of the first. She could recall his confusion, his apprehension, from the day the little form had burst from its shell, and then offering her friendly advice, unaware and unassuming, just hoping to lend a helping hand instead of a barbaric, hostile void. “Oh, you’re welcome,” she laughed and shrugged, as if it had been nothing; another wave of her tenderness, kindness, and compassion, wishing the rest of the world could do the same from time to time, instead of making bitter rivals or malicious omens. “I’m glad my knowledge was useful. I presume he’s become a capable companion?” The Songbird winked, then indulged further into watching the two foxes roll and tumble about – a much brighter instance than most events nowadays, and she could breathe easier, lighter, without the weight of chaos looming over her shoulder.
