A race? Why, Yael hasn’t participated in a race since… well, her pre-wing days. Which was a very, very long time ago, in case you were wondering. Back when she was simply an illustrious bay vagabond, half-traumatized and stumbling over the common language - back then the ran like the wind, sprinting up and over sand dunes like her ancestors were bred to do. Wings, of course, are great for the sky but not so great for running about on land, or in caves. They hinder aerodynamics and movement, and it’s really no fun when debris gets stuck in her feathers - sometimes painfully so. She glances over at Amaris and Ingrid (whom she greeted earlier with a bright smile and cheerful salutation), wondering if they should, perhaps, team up? But there is only one rock, she assumes, so even if two or three choose the same tunnel, only one will get there first….
On second thought, she’ll chance it alone, unwilling to want to fight a herdmate for a silly little rock (even if it is magical).
She nods her assent, and when the glittery bird’s wing drops, Yael leps forward, her legs finding purchase easily on the sand as she holds her wings tightly against her sides. Racing, towards the trio of caves, she veers towards her chosen tunnel, hoping to be the first one inside it.
