The cheerful air of the gathering continues on, and the filly basks in the attention of the rosy woman, while stealing glimpses at the other two pretty mares. Though much of the conversation goes over her head, too adult or disinteresting to be understood or bothered with, she does perk up to catch the pregnant beauty’s question.

Immediately, her eyes widen with a wonder as to what she wants to be, after all. Until now, she has simply been, moving from one meadow to another, following after her mother’s white flecked figure, or her father’s coffee brown one. Thinking about it, trying to be quick about it so as not to become droll, and lose Hotaru’s interest, she stares into the green eyes before her, pondering through it all; she did not care for leadership, as it involved too much talking, and she supposed she did like the smell of the herbs her mother kept in their cave, after all. She just didn’t know anything about healing, really, or fighting, for that matter. To be honest, all Gwyn knew she loved was a very simple list: her family, her father’s cave, and a full belly as she dozed off to sleep.

Was there a job that involved sleeping all day? She wondered.

I dunno,” at last supplies the child, a small giggle following the sudden upward sweep of her grinning lips; pausing for a second, she follows with a question of her own, “what sorta stuff you do?

Soon, however, its back to grown up things, and Gwyn is again looking at the trees overhead, the birds fluttering through their branches, and whatever else moves and is interesting – at least until tension breaks the up until now pleasant gathering, and her father’s voice grows hard, his muzzle softly touching her shoulder as he tells her it is time to go. Wondering what she missed while watching two sparrows entwined in playful flight, she worriedly glances her farewells to the others, quietly peeping:

Goo’bye,” says Gwyn, mostly to Hotaru, though she does look to everyone else, too, with a fluttering smile before her faintly crackling figure moves out with her father’s golden marked one. When he touches her head, she nuzzles upwards with a cheerful grin, and listens happily to his promise of the pretty mare’s imminent visit as they depart.

’cause you’ve got teeth like a wolf
but you cry like a sheep
