She watched as his pale ears flicked forward, waiting to see if her closeness to him would cause him to attack her or simply leave her be. She figured, if the man were to try and attack, that she was better equipped than previously, able to send a spark of fireworks straight into his chest. Though deep down she hoped that it wouldn’t come to that. His next set of words caused her own pale ears to flick toward him. Her gaze lingering on his pale face, remembering the history the two of them shared with one another.

Rexanna, in turn, offers him a small sigh and a nod. “I wanted him to live too, Cal.” She murmured, eyes glancing up to him, aiming to meet his fiery orange ones. It wasn’t worth it to her to argue with him about who killed their child. Though she knew it was him, had always known it was him, she knew he wouldn’t be able to understand or grasp that idea. So instead, she remained quiet, seeking out the secrets in his face if he’d allow, trying to figure out how to reconcile their ruined relationship.

That was when she noticed the gilded feather tied delicately in his mane and her heart sunk. “You kept a piece of him?” She questioned quietly, nose flicking toward the feather in his mane. Her eyes lit up slightly at the sight, though pain wanted to rage through her chest. “We should name him, you know… He deserves that much.” She admitted, eyes never leaving the gilded feather.
