She smiled at his look of disbelief and pressed herself deeper into the embrace. All at once, all the anger and hurt she had harbored for so long seemed petty and unimportant, the unschooled thinking of a spoiled brat... This was what mattered. The tall, strong body of her father's against her own, the familiar sound of his voice and the unmistakable love with which he spoke her name. Once, in the throws of jealousy and depression, she had doubted that love and turned her back on Vadim. Perhaps it hadn't been too surprising; they did meet only rarely these days, and the moment had been wrought with misunderstandings. Right now though, Erthë wondered to herself how she could ever have been so stupid.

"It's good to see you again, Father" she murmured with quiet happiness lacing throughout her words. "I missed you, and so much has been going on lately..."

Both for good and for bad. The Goddess had left the Edge. Erthë's old wounds were healed, and Tembovu was no longer king of the mistveiled forest. Kaos was loose in the world, winter was fast approaching, and Vadim's embrace was as warm and soothing as she remembered it to be.

For a long while she merely stood there savoring the moment. Then, gently pulling herself free, the little mare aimed a playful nip at her father's withers and bounded off, laughing with a joy that could not be contained. Dainty little hooves thundered over the frozen ground as she swept off towards Vlasi, enticing them both into a game of tag.

It was impossible to stand still when she was this happy. And she really wanted to show her dad that she could run again, just like she had when she was a mere foal, tiny and long of leg - well, tinier at least.
