Every vanity in the gold’s body soared to watch one of his sons feel the power of his blood. It calls forth the Cheshire grin to see the start of one of his own son’s lips.

But as it seemed to be for this poor child, good things rarely lasted. Fire flashes in the earth eyes, and he sees for only a split second, the horn cuffs alit before they are thrown off. Crowned head tosses, and he feels the colt crash on his own back legs. “Gal…” It was a whine, a plead. He knows without even seeing the signs what was threatening to happen. Why must everything end in this?

“Galahad.” It comes across firmer. The gold was trying to be caring, to bend, but he had his limits. With exasperation he glances to the objects still lite. They had rolled just in front of him, their flames licking harmlessly in the grass. He sighs with strain. “Look closer.” He reaches and nudges the objects to show. “They do not burn, just warm…like the sun.” He remembered watching the colt’s first time stepping into the sunlight, leaning into it, letting it energize him….it had been strange watching the colt enjoy something so foreign to the gold (the Laurelin who could only fully breath in the shadows), but he called upon it now as he tried to pull his son from the edge.
