Every move the gold carefully watched. His patience was gone, but he held his tongue, letting the colt come to his own conclusions. It pained him, but his love for the colt bore it. There would be time one day, when the colt was older to raise him in more of the gold’s fashion, to teach him the ways of shadows and silence. Then the gold would have his way and his moment, but for now, he let the colt have this one.

A peaceful smile rolls over his face as his child finally settles himself alongside again. A story? The smile twists quite cattishly. Yes, a story…They had already heard a few, none of course too scandalous yet, but thrilling and praising of their parents and the North. It was the gold’s offering to Hotaru. Perhaps she had not been strong enough to show the twins the north….but they would know it, and know it well. Oh but which tale to tell….Of course. His grin grows even wider. “Once, on a calm clear day wolves attacked….”
