The God of the Earth frowned as the young colt seemed so scared and so skittish. What mother could do this to her child? A terrible witch no doubt, a creature who lost all that made her alive. Still, he knew that intervening in the affairs with mortals was not his responsibility. Instead, he decided to take care of this small, precious child.
With a great sigh, the large stallion lowered his body to the ground. Even laying down, his massive face and horns were nearly as long as the colt's form. He was unable to speak, but that was fine. Soon, he would learn language. He would learn to communicate with others.
"Hhmm..." he hummed. The God of the Earth exhaled a cloud of frost and the figure of a spectral cat appeared. The ghost mewled and the god glanced up at the colt. He hummed again. "No, that's not right..." he commented. Then, the god breathed once more and a dog-like figure appeared. The spectral figure barked happily and wagged its tail. "Much better! Now, son," he said, "One of these is trapped in the Deep Forest. Go and save him, and he will be yours."
The God of the Earth breathed out a picture of a young pup whimpering, its leg stuck beneath the root of a great tree.
