A glimmer of hope appears in the silver blue eyes of little defective colt. There are many places in the land that he does not know, but this is not one of them. The god speaks to him in words that pass him by, but with the aid of the visuals, he slowly becomes aware of what he must do. He sees the companion, like Archibald's, and recognizes the forest where he was born. He sees the pain and the struggle in its eyes as it squirms, caught beneath the roots, and empathy floods through him for the first time. The voices grow softer as he hears a heartbeat, and its steady thumping soon overwhelms his senses. He does not hear the god, he does not see the world around him, he simply feels the beating of the lone companion's heart. And in a rush he is leaving the god's side after a mere parting glance of understanding and recognition. But he knows better than to linger in the presence of such a powerful being- he knows little, but he knows this. He feels as if the voices have taught him this, and yet at the same moment, he feels as if whenever they speak, he is in the presence of such beings. While he cannot yet fathom the idea of mortality, he embraces the thought that he is in some way inferior to the god that lifted itself from the earth. He looks behind as he stumbles away, letting out a quiet whinny of gratitude before he even knows what gratitude is. He knows that being in the presence of such a being was an honor, and that the massive beast had simply graced him by making an appearance. And now, to grant him what he desired... he would be a fool to linger. With speed inherited from his father and a strength borne from his thicker form, he makes his way to the deep forest, ears perked and alert as he follows the sound of what is seemingly a heartbeat in the distance.
