SALEM

"Idiocy."

Salem was fuming. The last land he had flown over the feathered lad had stopped to ask his whereabouts. He was met by an odd looking fellow who looked strangely like a baboon but spoke the tongue of horse with ease. It was in a strange accent that Salem was promptly told to turn around and go back where he came from, according to the monkey birds were not welcome in the direction he was going. Birds?! Was the idiot blind?! The roan stallion had taken the insult to heart and quickly removed the world of a foolish baboon. Muttering all kinds of colourful curses as he made his way into Helovia. Scowling at the landscape below him, it was cold in this part of the world. Not that the lad cared. Salem cared nought for anything, why should he bother wasting his time on things that were clearly beneath him.

Hooves graced the ground as he braced his wings against the air that repelled his landing. Red mane flicking wildly. The earth on which he landed contained little in the way of foliage and a great gaping hole loomed at the centre, it's angry heat caressing his chestnut face. This land was strange indeed. It was too quiet and reeked with peace. It wasn't ravaged with the sound of screaming like Anarore was. Salem had lingered a while when most had fled, enjoying the havoc and the darkness. Enjoying the power in which the shades seemed to hold over everyone. It was in death one reached their full power. Or so it always seemed.

The lad folded large dual coloured wings into his frosted sides and wondered about the Heart, looking for any signs of life. Does anyone even live here he thought with dryness. There were faint scents of others but nothing strong, the winged steed was becoming inpatient. He would take one more route of the heated place, and then take to the skies once more.
