The muddy grounds of the Thistle Meadow only seemed to agitate the great stallion further as he continued his travels. While the arrival of birdsong was typically a time he looked forward to, this year had caused him massive amounts of grief. His friends, his servants, his family... All had vanished, as if they were nothing but the fresh morning dew on a blade of grass. They had evaporated into thin air, it seemed. It was a simple thing, really, but one that Erigor could not- and would not- forget. One speck of hope remained, though, and he had wedged it so deeply within his heart that he would never let it go; his brother, Quilyan. Erigor had been away from him for what seemed like a very long time, and was looking forward to being reunited. Erigor hadn't accomplished much during his period of independence, but he knew that he would have another chance eventually. Being apart from Quilyan was nothing new to Erigor. In fact, it was a pattern that he was very used to. The two brothers' paths would cross, linger together, and then separate yet again. It had been like that since their home had fallen, and it was unlikely to change any time soon. They had never been very close, but Erigor had no one else to turn to. Deep down, the stallion was afraid. Being alone- forever- secretly worried him. These short phases of loneliness could only offer him a taste of the life he truly feared. A quick shiver ran down his spine, and Erigor continued to march through the muddy land. |
