SVETLANA the STORMCHASER
I was still warm in my pool. My hot, hot, spring of water, slightly frothy, gleaming green and stony gray, steam curling in tall wisps from it. Eyes of lazy black I watch someone approach with. When I am in this sheltered water, I never want to drag myself out. It soaks away my fears and soothes me like a mother with a child, until I'm floating in silence, oblivious to the world, only to the hush-hush of the water.
I know a guard is somewhere or other. Maybe the flaxen unicorn. I cannot collect myself to snarl at her. Yes, the hot water gets to me like nothing else, like a drug. A mare lays above me like a basking cat, but I don't bother removing myself. I'm too weak to move without help now, or very great effort, and I wouldn't be too surprised if I fell over and couldn't get back up. Even if my wings are angelic now. For reasons unbeknowst to me, my wings have turned frosted white, with glints of gold. A shimmery golden curtain seems to veil the world, making everything sparkle. At this point, I'm uncertain if I'm hallucinating or dreaming. The hot water drains away my senses, and for that, I love it.
And then I am distracted. An angel! No. A dragon. A little white dragon. So pretty. I gaze at it with huge, empty eyes, admiring the small creature. "Pretty..." I whisper, swimming a little closer with slow-motion strokes. Soon enough, I am back cocooned in my world, uninterrupted by the outside life, oblivious to any action or any words interrupting me.
