Mauja the FrostHeart

Somehow, it didn't surprise the FrostHeart that the quite sinister shape of Cineviam slid out from the forest and took up place behind the golden stallion. Briefly Mauja's pale eyes slid past the trespasser and onto the ever-sooty stallion, trying to gauge his mood. On edge, as everyone, but not overly hostile. Good. He didn't want to deal with accidentally upsetting Mirage by one of her lackeys getting roughed up, airheaded or not. To be honest, he was a bit surprised at the lack of alarm the stallion was showing. His dragon, however, seemed to have more sense, and seemed especially wary of Cineviam. The King forced down a dry laugh. He agreed that Cineviam looked every bit the nightmare menace, whereas soft, sleek Mauja was often disregarded until he had need to show just how sharp the edge of ice could be. They made quite the odd pair, Cineviam with his ashes born from hot fire, and Mauja with his horn and hooves covered in pale-blue frost. Still, their goals were the same.

The stallion began his attempt at explaining himself, and the ivory unicorn couldn't quite keep it all in. He scowled, and snorted. Not lost, eh, Torasin, who had come to preach of his master? He didn't quite know what to make of it, but the stallion was obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer. It was a bad thing to underestimate others, though, so for now Mauja would attempt to withhold judgment on the interloper's intelligence. "So your intended track was straight into the territory of the World's Edge herd?" he asked dryly. In spite of the very obvious trespass, he was curious. Had he intended to come here? And his dramatic pause at the end of his stated purpose just oozed of the desire to be questioned about it! Much as he wanted to humor the paint stallion and listen to him, he had other things to be concerned about - the safety of his herd, for one, and the possibility of the sun setting them on fire at any moment. He didn't particularly care to have a vengeful shady dragon-mare after him either - to top it all off, she was favored by the moon, and surely it'd not sit well with his patron goddess if he had to put her down?

"You seem quite the gent, Torasin. My name is Mauja, and I happen to be a part of the herd you're bumbling into. Of course you'll forgive my curiosity, but for someone as well-mannered as you, it seems a bit odd to just charge straight in without knocking?" One pale 'brow rose quizzically, tail slapping idly against his hocks. "Or perhaps you were hoping to find us all assembled, so you could tell all of us at once of this great master whom you obey?" And still his voice was not unkind and mocking, merely sincere and curious (perhaps, if you knew him well enough and listened for it, you'd hear the barest hint of sarcasm lacing every syllable). Perhaps he should instill a rule about non-herd members needing the King's permission to preach? Or force his warriors to patrol the borders all day so no one could get across without stating their purpose? To have someone come here, brazenly into his home, with the intention to preach and not even asking for permission..! He was just assuming they were going to sit around and listen! But still, Mauja was not one to turn down potential amusement at the expense of the lesser, nor did he ignore the fact that this was an excellent opportunity to find out more about Mirage, and this great master. Was Torasin double-crossing her?
