d'Artagnan

The child turns to the obvious plan of fleeing with eyes wild with freight, the shade expected as much. d'Artagnan took his aim and angled for a devastating slice, awaiting the satisfactory thump of a dead body falling to the floor before him. Leaves rustled and trees moaned with ancient aches, a blood curling scream rolled out of the young boy's lips who was brave enough to try and escape once more. The Mender watching on darkly as the colt fell to his knees and into the moist floor that had housed so many other bodies before him. A grumble of annoyance escaped the lips of the blood bay as he mourned the fact he had missed. Drops of blood dripping from murderous antlers, even as the child shouted for his father, d'Artagnan was already throwing himself forward. Cloven hooves flicked and sank into the forest floor, tail whipping this way and that as the Nightshade ran to face the boy once more. Lowering stained antlers to his fallen victim.

Death was impending and d'Artagnan had no reason for killing this child apart from the difference in species. Could no one understand his madness? Could no one relate to the ringing in his ears, the cold empty heart and the need to feel life drain from another. It was so morbidly rewarding, how could anyone not want to feel it? The scent of another sent hooves scrambling against the forest surface, d'Artagnan taking his charge to a halt as dual coloured eyes turned skywards. Something was coming. Was this, Daddy?

Daddy did indeed come, ignorant to the pain as he fought his way through branch and twig to face the blood bay on his own ground. A cry of anguish as he called out to his son. How marvellous the mind of the Doctor revelled, such a wonderful scene. The tragedy of the parent coming too late, it was more than he had hoped for. What happened next, however, had d'Artagnan falling onto the back foot in a wave of shock and intrigue.

Panels of armour came forth to protect and sand emerged as a wicked counterattack. Iron clad with eyes of revenge the Pegasus angled a horned face towards d'Artagnan who snorted in seeming revulsion. "Disgusting" he spat at the charging Midas, utterly offended that a pegasus would try a recreate the weapon of a unicorn. Who did he think he was?!

One word, however, proved to be one too many as he failed to shut his mouth in time to the barrage of sand. Through coughs and splutters, d'Artagnan reeled backwards with his vision impaired and ears flickering in attempt to locate the charging armoured General. Cloven hooves slammed against the surface as he vainly tried to outrun the storm, stumbling behind a tree to better hide his face whilst the grains of sand battered his rear end. His throat felt bitty and arid as he continued coughing, something made a strange snarling sound in the distance and another beat of wings. d'Artagnan gave a hoarse laugh at the coincidence of another feathered idiot being so close, outnumbered and almost choked to death, the Nightshade found himself struggling to find a way out. He glanced behind him and considered running, but the thought made him blanch at the cowardice of it. No, he would stay for now, test his own strength against this armoured vermin and his annoying sand. Remaining behind the trees would be the safest bet, besides, he wanted to see if his poison had taken it's course.
