it has come to pass...

The damp of the smog clung to her. She wasn’t pursing friendship on this dreary afternoon, only hoping to find her way through this wretched bog. It just came to pass, that her path had a humorous way of twisting, snaking it’s way past these two bickering souls. She had little time or patience to deal with such of either. The exquisite alabaster mare had chosen to side with the mare because one does not play trickery on those one does not know. Especially in the confides of such circumstances. Apparently this unicorn stallion had not received the attention one needed while growing up to properly put aside such foolishness.

She weighed his words lightly. Watching his lips curl into a sneer, like he had more of a right to his shenanigans than his own safety. It did not surprise her, his lyrics that tainted the air between them. And she took it as lightly as a grain of salt. She hadn’t expected much of the mare, as she did not know the lass on a personal bias. Her silence was more of a warm welcome than she had presumed to come forth form the blue mare. She had no doubt that the mare was highly capable of fighting her own battles, as the milky mare had no intention of stepping in and breaking up the battle of wills.

Dismissing the stallion’s comment to her, she was about to continue on her way, passing them, never to return to this part of Helovia, she tried to remind herself. But as she began to step forth, the rugged roan advanced upon the stag in a herding like motion. With an inward reluctance, the opaque mare pivoted on her haunches and took swift strides to hold off the advancing mare. A non-threatening gaze was given to the mare, before the wise unicorn turned her attention to the brute. She let her soft harmony linger on the stale air, giving the words a moment to settle.

"It is better to keep your mouth shut and let others think you a fool, stag, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. For the mouth of fools pours forth foolishness, which is bound in the heart of a child, criticizing, condemning and complaining."

Her thoughts lingered as to what environment would cause one to become an outcast. She would deem herself an outcast, but found refuge in herd numbers. She would always have the choice of leaving if she so chose. She was a wanderer by trade, an excellent tracker as well. But she had been conditioned through the duration of her existence, events that had prepared her. She was no child, and surely did not act as such.

It hadn’t directly been his playful actions that had set her off in a proactive defense, as it had been the mare’s reaction. It was all how you viewed the entirety of it all. Now granted, the mare had been a little over the top in her reaction, and for the sake of the stallion, she had actually saved his ass, by diverting the mare from possibly carrying out her threat. So the irony of the stag’s playfulness, and the defensive nature at her comment was quite contradictory if you asked her. But no one had.

With eloquent ease, she faced the mare with advice she could take or leave at her discretion.

"The best way to convince a fool that he is wrong is to let him have his way."

Her small ears swiveled before retreating her steps. She let one more parting of wisdom leave her, before she would attempt to continue on her journey.

"Do not be foolish. The price is heavy on those who do silly things and think of no consequence for their actions."
