sometimes the wrong choices bring us to the right places


Was it possible that birth became easier after the first time one had gone through it? It was quite possible, Kou mused as she lay nestled near the Basin's hot springs. The steam from the water washed over her, warming her as her body did what came natural in the throws of labor. Then the timing was right she would clench her teeth together and push with all her strength. The pain of childbirth had faded, somewhat, from her memory but now it was back in full force and had her wondering why she would put her body through such torment once more.

She was reminded of why when she felt the foal slide from her body and onto the cold ground behind her. The nurse took a few moments to gather her wits about her and regain some of her strength before rising to her feet and turning to greet her newborn. A smile played at the pale mare's lips as she gazed down lovingly at her new child.

"Nao." She murmured as her head lowered and her muzzle brushed across the foal's forehead where she would one day wear the crown that would identify her as a unicorn. "I would let your father name you, but he might try to name you something ridiculous, so I'll save us the trouble, darling."
