I'm the D e a d amongst the Living

Young body slips through shady trees, solid hooves striking the earth with a soft thud. Pink nostrils flare as muscles work hard, pushing rose gray body forward. Plum eyes drift to trees ahead, the dark stars of the night sparkle above elegant features.

Dark plum mane and tail flow behind. Gnarly horn shoots out of smooth forehead, shadows cast down on back. Facial designs seem to glow slightly as moonlight shines down. Velvety pink muzzle sticks out towards shadows as body moves forward.

Solid hooves dig into soft earth, head is lifted, pink muzzle reaches towards dark sky. Clouds begin to cover lovely night sky, and rain begins to fall like falling tears. Wet drops slide down coat, soaking body down to the bone. Chills are sent up through spine, spreading out in sleek body. Although the urges are strong, mind stops body from shivering, from reacting to the cold. Face of stone gazes into the dark shadows, nostrils flare. Ears flick back, thinking some one was there."Come out here." Strong and flat tone booms out, plum eyes remain focused on black shadows. Out of the corner of plum eyes a shadow moves. Head snaps to that direction, vicious eyes focusing on any movement. Something moves from behind a bush, and leg muscles tighten and release. Body is launched forward at movement, and solid hooves are brought down. A loud splat comes from under hooves. Legs lift up, and black hooves are painted in red. Plum eyes drift down, seeing a mangled body of a dead rabbit. It's brown pelt is soaked in blood, it's ribs have snapped and it's head has been crushed. A sly smile slides across pink lips. Ears flick back, trying to locate another sound.
