It had been a long time since her wandering hooves had brought the young grulla this far east. Memories floated in her head as she wove with careless ease through the trees and undergrowth. Memories of when she was much younger, searching these woods for a familiar figure who'd promised to return, until she found him. Memories of meeting, and standing up to, Mandrake, who seemed to dislike her so. Good memories, and not-so-good memories.
But those memories were vanquished when blue eyes alit upon an unknown horse. Immediately she came to attention, pausing to observe this powerfully built stranger. His coloration reminded her of Mother, but his sheer size reminded her of Archibald. Yet there were aspects of him that reminded her of herself.
Curiosity stoked, she approached with a bold step, taking a more-or-less direct route to reach the small clearing this stranger had installed himself in. Her steps were light out of habit, barely rustling the plants that reached to brush her legs. And she paused again, a step or two within the boundaries of the clearing. "Hello there." Her voice chimed merrily, ears forward with interest. "What brings you here?"
